Cambridge IELTS is the series of book that published by Cambridge University press since 1996, and has become one of the reference materials for IELTS Test preparation material. For students working partially or totally on their own, the content is made simple by the inclusion of annotated keys and tape scripts for each test. The listening material for the IELTS listening component is available on audio CDs in the same timed format as the actual IELTS test. To reflect the realities of taking the IELTS exam, this is the case.
The books also include some sample responses with band scores for writing assessments (along with justifications for why the writing received the result it did). Please take note that the IELTS past paper books DO NOT offer teaching or methodologies. They are merely instructional materials. The test has evolved slightly throughout the years, therefore it's recommended that you start with a book written for the most recent version (Cambridge IELTS 9). The author's name has been changed, and the edition has been divided into academic and general training materials, but the numbers remain the same.
The speaking portion of the test has also been updated, thus there may be discrepancies between Cambridge IELTS Books 1-17 Academic & General Training and the current test. You can't really prepare for the speaking test by yourself by reading the book, and you can simply find sample tests to download on the internet.
