What is IELTS and where can I take it?

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a globally recognized English language exam designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work in countries where English is the primary language. It is recognized by the majority of universities and colleges in the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, and a large number of institutions in the United States. Professional organizations, immigration authorities, and other government agencies all recognize it. The University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL), the British Council, and IDP: IELTS Australia jointly manage IELTS. It is available at Test Centers around the world on specific dates throughout the year.

IELTS is available in two versions: Academic and General Training. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking modules, and candidates can choose between Academic and General Training Reading and Writing modules. Academic is appropriate for students who want to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. General Training is appropriate for candidates who plan to pursue non-academic training, work experience, or immigration. If you have some questions about IELTS, you can read IELTS FAQs and Practice at Frequently Asked Questions in the IELTS test system and More information about the exam is available on the IELTS website, www.ielts.org.
